
I first spray the background black and roughly block in the face details. You can be really loose here because you are just trying to get the proportions right. Remember its just paint.
Ok, now that I got the proportions right, I start adding some basic details with a thinned down black. Imagine were the light would fall and sculpt out the face. It won’t do any good to color in a face that isn’t in the right proportions.
I add the hair and eye details. I finish all details now. Next comes color.
This is the cool part, I mix up some real light red and slowly build up the color from dark to light. I add some brown and a few drops of yellow. As I snapped the picture, I should have paid more attention to the reflections in the painting.. looks like she has a door stuck to her nose… lol.
